Theresa and Marty’s New Year’s Eve winter wedding took place at the landmark Stanley Theater in Utica, NY. This was perhaps the coldest winter wedding we have ever photographed!
We met Theresa at Mamie & Louis’s upstate New York wedding a couple years back. As soon as this stunning woman (Theresa is a bombshell model in the city) became engaged she reached out and we were thrilled to work with her and see some familiar faces again. Marty’s family flew out from Ireland, a group of thoughtful, exceptionally kind people. The backdrop to their nuptials could not have been more grand or luxe, nor could Theresa’s gown which transformed from a billowing ball gown into a svelte form-fitting sheath. After the ceremony guests counted down the new year with Theresa & Marty in the center, an epic party if there ever was one!

Favorite memory Katie: The theater was absolutely packed with people, standing room only, people packed against walls and banisters and around the staircase where Theresa would make her grand entrance. I was charged with photographing her going down the steps from the top, where Kevin would then shoot her coming up the aisle. The top of the staircase was so packed that my heart was fluttering trying to figure out how to capture her waiting with her dad and walking into the landing, then running around to the other side to get her walking down the stairs, then running around once again to get her walking up the aisle from above. I think I ran into a few people but ended up very pleased with my shots! And I’ll never forget Theresa’s absolutely vibrant smile as she walked down those stairs.
Favorite memory Kevin: Both Theresa and Marty treated every single person, including both Katie and I with love and kindness all day. A small thing, but memorable for me. From the time we first started speaking with Theresa by email when she was booking her wedding, through receiving their album months after the wedding was over, she was an absolute delight and just wonderful to work with. Marty himself, and his family from Ireland, were so kind and sweet to us. We stayed in the same hotel as some of his family. And when they saw us in the lobby the day after the wedding, they took the time to come over and speak with us, ask us about our family, when we were headed home and to just tell us we did a great job. Overall it was one of my favorite family experiences, on both sides and I’m thrilled to photograph at least two weddings in the near future in the same group of families!
