We met Jackie and Dan through Mary and Jason’s Parisian wedding the previous year. Dan was a groomsman, Jackie his radiant bff who glowed in a bright red gown. I remember thinking what a beautiful couple they were and was excited to photograph them on their wedding day! They were married in Long Island, in a grand historic home called the Hempstead House that perfectly fit their aesthetic. The lawns were lush with roses, gargoyles perched above stained glass windows looking over the water, and ornate plaster trims and gilding complemented the stunning gothic architecture of the mansion. Jackie and Dan were just as elegant and classic in her form-fitting gown and lace veil and his tuxedo. They were married in a classic Jewish ceremony in the gardens, followed by a stunning dinner and reception in the main house. We loved using the grounds and this vibrant couple as inspiration for our photographs. We particularly loved shooting in the grand foyer with its stone walls and dramatic staircase.
Location: Long Island, New York (Hempstead House)
Colors: Grey, Ivory,
Season: Spring
Katie’s Favorite Memory: I thought the reception was exquisite. The dinner place settings, florals, and overall ambiance was breathtaking!
Kevin’s Favorite Memory: The last song the INCREDIBLE live band played as their send off was Alicia Keys’ Empire State of Mind. The upbeat energy of that song, everyone singing along and the fact that we were actually in NY made it one of my favorite memories from any wedding.
