How do I put into a paragraph or two all that I loved about this wedding?
I have literally had this day in the back of my mind since I met Joyce in 2010 at her BFF's wedding in Las Vegas. She is just one of those people you meet and love instantly, which was a common theme throughout the day: Watching family and friends spend time with the couple (they are beloved these two), people you meet who make you feel like you're a part of their family, instantly. This was one of those days where I left the wedding wishing it didn't have to end and just feeling thankful that had asked me to be there.
We started the day at Loews Hotel on Coronado Island for getting ready shots and photographs of the bridal parties. Took a limo to Breakers Beach on the Naval Base for the ceremony, followed by the beach at sunset, all to ourselves. And it was beautiful, the whole day was beautiful, but having some time with them to myself on the beach--looking out into the Pacific Ocean at sunset--was perfect. It reminded me why I love what I do so much.
This was a solo trip to San Diego for me, one of my favorite cities in the world, and I soaked up every minute of it. I watched fireworks over downtown San Diego from Coronado Island and then got a boat ride back to the Convention Center where I wandered around aimlessly, listening to Incubus, soaking up the architecture and downtown city lights. I spent time doing nothing at the beach; I got a new tattoo; I spent time with people I love, photographing their day.
It was epic.
