Jackie contacted us desperate to find a photographer after hers fell through just weeks before her Bellingham wedding day. Although we were leaving for France the morning after, we still had her day free and were delighted to tell her yes.
While Kevin and Jackie discussed the details over the phone, Jackie struggled through tears to tell Kevin that the day might be difficult for her family, as her brother had recently passed away. She described how they wanted to include her brother's memory during her and Dan's first dance. They would light a candle and play a song for him. Also, she described how her brother would have been a new father, as his wife had JUST had a new baby. The new baby, Michael's widow, and their 4-year-old daughter would all be present throughout the day. This is tough stuff.
On the wedding day, family filled every corner of Jackie and Dan's lives. Nieces, cousins, next-door-neighbor children, and the usual mix of friends, siblings, and extended family surrounded the bride and groom. Kevin and I loved how the addition of so many family members created a different vibe than we've been accustomed to recently.
Please enjoy images from this lovely couple's wedding day. We had such a wonderful time watching the way a family comes together in love and sadness after great loss, to start a new beginning.
