Unless you're a photog you probably don't know what Wedding & Portrait Photography International is (WPPI). It is organization that puts on (I believe) the largest photography conference in the world, among other things. Photographers from all over the world come to Vegas every year for this. I've met some amazing people & friends over the past 8 years, and also learned a ton. It's pretty amazing.
We are extremely excited about teaching a Master Class at WPPI this year as a follow up to our Platform Class last year. We put so much love, blood and sweat into that class last year, and really felt like it was a successful one. We had a blast and apparently got some good reviews (although I haven't seen them). Master Class....crazy. I can't quite decide if it's more nerve-racking or less. Either way it's the same amount of preparation and stress.
I am excited though, excited for the week of WPPI in Vegas which is always a needed break full of inspiration. WPPI to me has always been a huge support system, business changer and confidence builder. I have always absolutely loved being around thousands of other artists, who love the same art I do, and get this... who are supportive of each other! Crazy idea. I haven't always found that to be the case where I currently live. I started the Southern Utah Photography Guild because of that. Photographers helping photographers. I was sick of the "I don't like you because you do the same thing I do." Why shouldn't people, who love the same ART, be supportive to each other, explore their art together, have some damn fun doing their art together. Maybe I'm too naive to believe that idea is possible in a business where you are competing (so to speak) against others to make your living. I've always believed though, that there's enough work to go around if you believe there is. And if you are supportive to other artists, well, that karma will come back and lift you up.
